Operations Director/Chief Engineer

Susquehanna Civil is looking for an Operations Director/Chief Engineer to lead our technical sections. Responsibilities will include coordinating workloads and staff assignments among various disciplines; monitoring budgets and schedules on all projects; project management on major projects, and mentoring staff project managers and engineers on smaller jobs; overseeing QA program;  managing customer relationships; and preparing technical and price proposals.  Minimum requirements include a BS in civil or structural engineering, PA licensure, and 15 years in highway and bridge design including 5 years in project management.  The successful candidate will have solid communication, leadership, and time management skills, a professional demeanor, and strong connections within the transportation industry – consultants, PennDOT, PA Turnpike, and SEPTA.

Geotechnical Engineer

We are looking for a project-level engineer with a broad background in geotechnical engineering, including a substantial body of work on PA DOT and/or PA Turnpike projects.  Duties will include the analysis, design, and report and specification writing for such infrastructure elements as structural foundation systems, earth retention systems, slope stability analysis, MSE walls, reinforced soil slopes;  planning and execution of geotechnical explorations, including field supervision, drilling contracts, and sampling and testing programs.  Candidates must be licensed in PA and must have a B.S. in civil or geotechnical engineering and ten (10) years of progressively responsible design experience.   The successful applicant will possess strong communication and analytical skills, a thorough working knowledge of PennDOT and PA Turnpike design standards and procedures, and the ability to work with multiple clients and projects simultaneously.  Project management and field experience are a plus.
