Tyler Morris Joins SCI Full Time

Tyler Morris has accepted SCI’s offer of full time employment as an IT Technician. Tyler has completed a successful internship with the IT Group that started in late September 2020. He has a Specialized Business Degree as a Computer Systems Specialist from York Technical Institute (YTI).

SCI Welcomes Drew Labenberg

Please welcome Drew Labenberg to our company! He will be working with Tim out in the field as a Survey Technician. In addition to his military experience, Drew has graduated from Kutztown University with a BS in Environmental Science; Geography-- with a focus in Geographic Information Systems this past May. He has worked for the Borough of Emmaus as a GIS Specialist. In his free time he enjoys most anything outdoors, including fishing, hunting, and canoeing, as well as spending time with his family, friends, and cats.

SCI Welcomes Chelsea Cummings

SCI welcomes Chelsea Cummings as our Sr. HR Advisor.  Chelsea is dedicated to developing Human Resources (HR) strategy that aligns with short- and long-term business objectives, and is passionate about creating a positive and engaging workplace environment for all employees.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism with a Minor in Communications Arts and Sciences from The Pennsylvania State University, along with SHRM-CP Human Resources and Life Coach certifications.  She has been pursuing her Masters of Professional Study in HR Management and Employee Relations.  Chelsea is excited to be a part of and make an impact on Susquehanna Civil’s growth and continued innovation.

SCI Welcomes Theodore Coomes II

SCI welcomes Ted Coomes to our Right-of-Way and Utility Group as a Right-of-Way Designer. Ted has an Associate Degree in Civil Technology from HACC and graduated with honors. 

SCI Welcomes Samuel Gobeille

SCI welcomed Sam Gobeille to the Transportation Department as a Transportation Designer in early June. Sam is a recent graduate of Messiah with a concentration in structures and will be assisting with design tasks including Signing and Pavement Marking, E&S Plans, Traffic Control Plans, and general CADD.

SCI welcomes Bailey Bzdak to our Environmental Group as an Environmental Technician. Ms. Bzdak joins us as a recent graduate of Shippensburg University.

SCI extends a warm welcome to our new Senior Structural Engineer, Rebecca Mulfinger, P.E. Ms. Mulfinger is a Penn State alum and has 17 years of experience in the industry working on a variety of bridge projects.

SCI Welcomes Don Baker

Susquehanna Civil is pleased to announce that Donald Baker has joined the SCI team as a Senior Designer in our Right-of-Way and Utilities Group. Mr. Baker is an alum of Millersville University and has 21 years of experience in the transportation industry that includes highway design,  bridge detail, permits, hydrology analysis, erosion and sediment pollution control plans, highway design, traffic control plans and right-of-way drawing review.

Susquehanna Civil Leadership Changes in 2020

At the end of 2019, our Founder and President Lea Nadler, PE retired along with our Executive Vice President, Ken Nadler, PE. Their retirements left roles to fill and our Leadership has changed in the following ways:

Rosanna Smithnosky, PE now holds the title of President, John Yacapsin, PE,CBI has moved to the position of Executive Vice President, Jeremiah Greenland, PG has taken on the role of Vice President of Operations, Crystalann Deardorff, PE, CBI has moved to the role of Vice President of Business Development—a brand new position in our company—Marc Pinto maintains his role of Vice President of Administration. Lea’s new title is Founder and Ken will serve as an as-needed Executive Advisor to the firm.

We will be providing more updates on staffing changes within our organization this week.

SCI Announces 2019 Promotions

SCI is proud to announce that Robert Kocher, PE; Keith Rupp, PE; and Ryan Wintermyer have all accepted promotions this month. Mr. Kocher is now serving as a Senior Project Manager, Mr. Rupp took on the role of Transportation Group Manager, and Mr. Wintermyer stepped into his new role of Right-of-Way and Utility Group Manager as his department expands.

SCI welcomes James Gyles, PE, as a Senior Project Manager. Jim earned his bachelors in Civil Engineering at Temple University and brings 37 years of experience to our Project Management team.

SCI welcomes Derek Miller, P.E., CBI to our Structures Group as Bridge Group Inspection Manager. Mr. Miller has over 22 years of experience with the policies, procedures, and rating methods with respect to bridge inspection and analysis.

SCI Names Rosanna Smithnosky, PE, President-Elect

Susquehanna Civil Inc. (SCI) is proud to announce the promotion of Rosanna Smithnosky, PE to the position of President-Elect. Ms. Smithnosky will assume the role  of President in January 2020.

Current President and company founder Lea Nadler, PE believes “it takes a certain mindset to start and grow a company, but an established company requires a different approach to leadership and risk management. Rosanna has that skill set. She’s worked very hard to develop it, and she is ready to lead Susquehanna Civil into its second decade. Also, the talent and experience of the executive team that helped build the company - Marc, John, and Crystalann - will be supporting her. I'm excited to see where they take the firm.”

Ms. Smithnosky brings 26 years of consulting experience in design and project management for PennDOT and PA Turnpike. She joined Susquehanna Civil in 2014 after serving as a Project Manager for a major international engineering firm. In 2016 Rosanna was promoted from Director to Vice President in charge of the Transportation Group and became a firm owner.

Her design work experience encompasses both public and private client projects for highway and site design, and includes project management of small scale rural projects to multi-million dollar federally funded transportation projects.  Ms. Smithnosky’s executive responsibilities span the categories of group management, QA/QC manager, training program leader, operations, financials, risk management, and strategic planning. 

Ms. Smithnosky serves on the Susquehanna Civil Board of Directors, the WTS Advisory Board, and both the ACEC PA Board of Directors and the Quality Committee. She is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and has been a registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania for twenty-two years.
